Termite Inspections

Termites (commonly known as white ants) are one of the most destructive pests in Australia. They cause millions of dollars damage to homes and structures throughout the country. Unfortunately, these damages are not covered by most insurance companies.

At Critters Pest Management, we offer a full detailed termite inspection and report that meets Australian standards using the latest tools & equipment including a moisture meter and additional Thermal Camera.

All termite inspections come with a comprehensive report including details of issues found including any conducive conditions that may attract termites.

All inspection reports include colour photos.

Termite Inspection services including:

  • Experienced Termite Inspectors
  • Thorough Inspection and Report
  • Easy to Read Format Reports including photos
  • Pre-Purchase Inspections and Annual Inspections
  • Professional Prevention Advice

Area’s Inspected Where Accessible:

  • Roof Void
  • Sub-floor Areas (unless the building is on concrete slab)
  • Internal Timbers: Skirting boards, Door and Window Frames
  • External Timbers: up to 50 meters or to boundaries of property. Fences, Garden Landscape Timbers, Retaining walls
  • Suspect Trees & Stumps

Flir Thermal Imaging

All Critters Pest Management termite inspections include thermal imaging using a Flir thermal camera. Subterranean termite nests generate heat that is detected by the thermal camera, so termite activity can be easily detected.
The camera is non-invasive and non-destructive and allows us to quickly scan for termite activity. It also means any treatment can be very precise, with minimal damage required to surrounding timbers.

With the thermal camera, our operator scans for moisture within walls. Since the nesting behaviours of termites bring large amounts of moisture into the building, the presence of moisture in an area where it is not expected is usually a sign of termite activity. The moisture absorbs temperature and gives a different reading to the surrounding areas.

Many pest control services rely on visual or audible techniques to inspect for termites and while we believe these inspections are important, we also believe that without thermal imaging you are only getting half the picture.

Termatrac T3i

Radar

Using the T3i is as simple as tap & scan. Termites and other insects are discovered without disturbance, allowing efficient treatments and reducing callbacks. In turn, this reduces cost and has less environmental impact in the single treatment phase.
No need to pull walls apart or drill holes to find insects — T3i is non-invasive. See through timber, brick, masonry, plaster, drywall, plastic and most common building materials Precision-calibrated radar to detect termites and other insects

Rapid Scan Moisture Analysis

The Moisture Sensor built into the single Termatrac T3i hand-held unit measures and records differential moisture levels in building materials without any need for physical penetration and damage. Easily identify potential termite risk areas by the concentrated presence of moisture. Easily and accurately identify the difference in moisture levels on most surfaces, including wood, drywall, roofing, plaster, brick, concrete, etc. Specially designed padding ensures no marks occur on the tested surface areas when scanning for moisture.

Thermal

The Remote Thermal Sensor with Laser Guide built into the Termatrac T3i hand-held unit performs a similar role to a thermal imaging camera (minus the visual capability), enabling the operator to scan Termite Risk Areas for changes in wall surface temperature which could be conducive to termite infestation.

We understand that your home is your biggest investment. Our licensed Termite Inspectors take the time to carry out a full job. We supply a comprehensive report to supply you. If Subterranean Termite activity is found we can explain to you the full extent of the infestation and then we can recommend the most effective treatment to suit your home and your budget if required.
Termites are an ancient order of insects whose origins date back more than 100 million years to the Cretaceous period. Although they are commonly called ‘white ants’, the resemblance to ants is superficial and they are more closely related to cockroaches and in fact have been recently included into the cockroach order Blattodea.

Termites can be grouped into three basic categories: damp wood, dry wood and subterranean. Damp wood termites generally live in damp rotting logs or rot pockets in dead or living trees. Dry wood termites obtain water from the wood in which they live and have no contact with the soil, subterranean termites are generally ground dwelling or require contact with the soil or some constant source of moisture and are the main threat posed to timber in our buildings. (timber-in-service).

Termites play a prominent part in the recycling of plant nutrients through the disintegration and decomposition of dead wood and plant debris. Their excavations alter the structure of trees and provide spaces, which have become a necessary part of the habitat of many vertebrate species including bats, birds, reptiles and arboreal mammals. Many species of termite feed on materials such as grass. Only handfuls are of economic importance to timber-in-service.

Termites are also one of the most destructive pests in Australia. They cause millions of dollars damage to homes and structures. According to CSIRO 1 in 3 homes will be affected by termites within the economic life of the structure. Too often, the presence of these home invaders goes undetected until damage is discovered by chance. This damage isn’t covered by most insurance companies
